Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum researchers

  • Discovered a new method of creating stem cells that could lead to possible cures for devastating diseases including spinal cord injury, macular degeneration, diabetes and Parkinson’s disease
  • Developed a new technology tool that analyzes breast cancer tumours to determine a patient’s best treatment options
  • Created a blood test to differentiate women who will deliver babies prematurely from those who won't
  • Demonstrated genetic susceptibility for schizophrenia and depression
  • Discovered a new genetic mutation in the Oji-Cree Native people of Sandy Lake reserve in northern Ontario
  • Initiated the first study in Canada to examine young girls before they develop breast cancer
