Dr. Diamandis wins prestigious IFCC award
Dr. Eleftherios
Diamandis, Lunenfeld Associate Member, has been named the first
Canadian to win the prestigious international 2009 International
Federation of Clinical Chemistry/Abbott Award for Significant
Contributions to Molecular Diagnostics.
The annual award honours an individual who has made a unique contribution to the promotion and understanding of molecular biology and its applications in clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine throughout the world.
“I am very pleased to represent my research group and I am accepting this award on behalf of all those post-docs, graduate students and support staff who contributed their hard work over the last 10 years of research on kallikreins and related peptidases,” says Dr. Diamandis. “I would also like to thank Mount Sinai Hospital and the department of pathology and laboratory medicine for its amazing support in space and resources over the last 15 years.”
Dr. Diamandis was nominated by both the Canadian and Greek national societies, and was selected unanimously from a strong field of candidates. He will receive the award at the opening ceremony of EuroMedLab 2009, which takes place in Innsbruck, Austria on June 7, 2009.
