Blood Vessels of the Iris
Sabiha
Hacibekiroglu is a graduate student in the lab of Dr. Andras Nagy. Her
research project is to develop a novel treatment for two types of eye
diseases that cause blindness: age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
and diabetic retinopathy (DR). Her team aims to achieve this by
combining cell and gene therapy to inhibit abnormal blood vessel growth
locally and improve vision in AMD and DR.
The image shown here is of stained endothelial cells and collagen, in blood vessels of the iris.
